The 2015 RCBC Community of Scholars Residential event on 11th September at the Clayton Hotel, Cardiff was a great success. With the theme of ‘Communicating your message’, all Fellows presented posters of their work over the two days, interspersed with an Academic writing workshop, led by Professor John Skelton, a session on Managing your digital presence, from Julie Kissick, and a workshop looking at applying positive psychology principles to work, led by Sarah Lewis. Dr Tom Crick also spoke about his experiences as a member of the Sense about Science – Voice of Young Science network.
It was great to hear about all the excellent work the Fellows are doing, and good to hear from one of our new RCBC PhD Fellows Nick Weaver and postdoctoral Fellow Liba Sheeran.
The Fellows found the sessions to be informative and enjoyable. Applying an Academic writing template to create fictitious reports of RCTs to 'proove' proverbs added a note of fun, whilst the stimulating interactive positive psychology session set the room buzzing!
