Fellows Securing Grant Funding

Research Capacity Building Collaboration Wales
RCBCWales

RCBCWales is funded by the Welsh Government through Health and Care Research Wales and is a collaboration between six university nursing and allied health departments in Wales.

As the RCBCWales grant holder it is my privilege to lead this exciting initiative. Our highly successful collaboration aims to increase research capacity in nursing, midwifery, the allied health professions and pharmacists across Wales. We offer a range of schemes including 'First into Research', PhDs and Post Doctoral Fellowships.

Our fellows join our Community of Scholars (CoS), which is integral to RCBCWales. We work within a collegiate environment to foster capacity building and a sense of collective learning and community engagement through mentorship, master classes and research leadership. CoS brings together a range of health professionals at different career stages and remains highly valued by all the scholars.

RCBCWales has awarded 132 fellowships to date and we are extremely proud of our fellows and their achievements.

RCBCWales Funding Opportunities

The RCBCWales collaboration comprises six university nursing and allied health departments in Wales which cooperate to provide shared infrastructure and support for research fellowships across the research trajectory, through First into Research opportunities, doctoral and postdoctoral studies. The scheme is funded by Welsh Government through Health and Care Research Wales. Additional funds have been provided by Tenovus Cancer Care, Aneurin Bevan University Health Board and Pharmacy Research UK.

RCBCWales represents an opportunity for registered health professionals in nursing, midwifery, pharmacy, clinical science and the allied health professions to secure fellowships to develop their research confidence, skills and expertise. The research fellowship schemes also strengthen the R&D infrastructure by increasing the quality and quantity of research in health care in Wales.   To find out more about our current opportunities please visit the link below.

RCBCWales Funding Opportunities - CALLS CLOSED
Professor Jean White, Chief Nursing Officer for Wales on RCBCWales...

"If we are to make significant advances in our understanding of healthcare practices, we need to have well educated clinically focussed researchers. RCBCWales is therefore an important initiative as it ensures talented nurses, midwives and allied health professionals have the education and training they need to equip them to lead and facilitate key areas of research and development in the future.

Together for Health (2011) talks about the importance of research and development. To realise the aspirations set out in this 5 year vision for NHS Wales we need to invest in the individuals who can take this agenda forward. I am therefore pleased to lend my support to the ongoing good work that RCBCWales does and offer encouragement to the RCBCWales Fellows as they undertake their studies."
